Race Report | Gaciron x Chengdu Tianfu Greenway International Cycling Race Successfully Held

On June 29, 2025, the Chengdu Tianfu Greenway International Cycling Race (commonly known as "Tianfu Greenway Cycling Race") concluded successfully at Sand Lake in Chengdu's Eastern New Area. As an official event sponsor, Gaciron was on-site to witness cyclists' breakthrough moments and joined spectators in cheering every rider pushing their limits. Let's revisit these spectacular race highlights!

Race Overview

The competition took place at Chengdu's picturesque Sand Lake, known as the "Pearl of Tianfu" and a designated venue for the 2025 World Games' motorboating and waterskiing events. Starting and finishing at Chengdu Sport University's Eastern Campus, the race leveraged World Games infrastructure while adapting to weather conditions - organizers replaced the planned mountain section with an additional lap around the lake for a total 124.5km course, strategically adding a new sprint point after the third lap to maintain competitive intensity.

The race officially kicked off at 9:00 AM amidst drizzling rain and increasing winds, presenting additional challenges that tested riders' technical skills and endurance. Undeterred by the adverse conditions, cyclists demonstrated remarkable perseverance as they powered through the course with unwavering determination, their figures cutting through the misty lakefront landscape in a dramatic display of athleticism.

As the race entered its final stages, the peloton mounted a fierce charge against the leading breakaway group, momentarily closing the time gap in a display of tactical teamwork. However, the early attackers maintained their disciplined formation, ultimately defending their hard-won advantage to the finish line in a testament to their superior energy management and collaborative riding strategy.

The race culminated in an electrifying small-group sprint, with Ivanov from DYC Chengdu Continental Team powering across the line first in 2:42:58 to claim both the leader's green jersey and sprint points blue jersey. Campbell of Triumph-Bardiani CSF secured second place, while Guo Liang from Huansheng-VONOA-Taishan Sports Team demonstrated exceptional sprinting to take third and earn the white jersey as best Chinese rider, capping off an intensely competitive stage.

Simultaneously, the organizing committee hosted a 31km mass participation ride at Sand Lake in the Eastern New Area, where cycling enthusiasts from across China gathered to enjoy the shared joy of riding against the stunning lakeside backdrop.
